Nonnie is a certified US and Asian Etiquette Consultant.
She is a past member of Association of Image Consultants International (AICI Chicago), Strathmore’s Who’s Who, the chamber of commerce in Lafayette,
Indiana, Association of Women Business Owners in Lafayette, and the board of directors at Thomas Duncan Community Hall. For seven years, she wrote an
etiquette column for the Lafayette, Indiana Journal & Courier newspaper. Just before she retired from a 32-year career with the airlines in 1996, she
was inducted into the American Airlines Hall of Fame for Professional Flight Attendants. In 2003, Governor George Patton commissioned her as a Kentucky
Colonel. She is a member of Continental Who’s Who, American Airlines Kiwi Organization, Chi Omega Alumnae and Order of Omega.
For over 25 years, she was known on campuses nationwide as “Mom Nonnie” where she facilitated etiquette and relationship programs for hundreds
of thousands of students. She served as a Sigma Phi Epsilon housemother at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas and Purdue University in West Lafayette,
Indiana for 12 years. In August of 2013, she was honored at Sig Ep’s Conclave in Dallas and was recognized for 23 years of service in Resolution #25. In 2013, she
completed her tenure with the NCAA and NACWAA. In July of 2014, Delta Tau Delta fraternity honored her at their Karnea convention where she received the Edwin L.
Heminger Award for Interfraternity excellence. For seven years, she served as Chi Omega’s House Corporation Board president at Florida Gulf Coast University’s Pi
Mu chapter in Fort Myers, stepping down in July 2014. In March of 2015, Nonnie completed her eleventh year as a core speaker at Phi Kappa Psi American Leadership Academy in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
Nonnie is married to retired US Navy Captain and Naval Aviator Bruce H. Owens. They live in Fairfield Glade, Tennessee.
